Isho Tansu Chest

kanagu tansu chest

Isho Tansu Chests were used to store clothing and kimonos in 20th century Japan. Larger tansu chests are composed of two pieces stacked on top of each other. They were to easily accommodate the constantly changing functions of a Japanese room. Their modular quality creates many design options, from being placed back to back as a coffee table, or separated to act as a pair of side tables.
The focus in tansu craftsmanship is natural materials and detailed handmade hardware on Kiri wood.
