When you are looking to light a work area, your first concern needs to be your ability to see what you are going to be working on. While you can spend hours looking at different fixtures and seeing how they fit into the overlook landscape of the room, if you aren’t able to see what you are doing with the lighting it isn’t going to do any good.
With that in mind, you need to start with the type of lighting that you need and work backwards from there. Different types of work needs different types of light; some type of work needs, bright lighting, while others are best with soft lighting. When you decide what type of light you need, and what type of coverage is needed throughout the room, you can then move onto which types of fixtures you can use.
As long as you have the right kind of lighting and coverage in place, you can pick just about any type of fixtures you need. For a more modern flair, look into built in lighting that fits in seamlessly with the walls, or LED lighting fixtures that take a minimalist approach in the space that they take up in a room.
