The Oeuf Sparrow 3 drawer dresser was created by parents who appreciate modern design. All Oeuf’s dressers are made in Europe to strict environmental standards. Natural birch or walnut drawer faces and leg detailing that matches the Sparrow crib give this dresser a fun, modern look. A slightly more compact dresser, it will work well all around the house. Made in Latvia, a nation with a strong woodworking heritage, from locally sourced wood, this dresser is as green as it gets. Environmentally friendly E1 certified MDF made from recovered wood fibers and the finishes are non-toxic and water-based, free of VOC health hazards. Made in a Forest Stewardship Certified facility, the wood wastes and finishing materials are recycled.
From Pottery Barn’s eco-friendly collection comes this wonderful Shasta Reclaimed Wood Coffee Table. Reclaimed wood has a depth of character that can’t be replicated, with each whorl, knot and groove providing beautiful evidence of its past. They used reclaimed teak wood from old buildings to craft the top of this dramatic coffee table. Its square legs, crafted of Indian rosewood, rest on visible battens. The reclaimed wood slabs on top form a rough-hewn patchwork, making each table completely unique.

Water Features are a great addition to any home setting, especially when placed in your yard of garden. The flow of water is a natural tranquil sound that makes water fountains relaxing for any location. If you love the tranquil sounds of running water from rivers or waterfalls, your sure to enjoy a similar experience with your very own water fountain in your home. And when the natural sound of water flowing from these fountains is combined with the elements of the outdoors, whether it’s in a front yard or lavish garden, the mood of the location become a serene get away from the stresses of everyday life. There’s many kinds of water features for both indoors and outdoors, but for those looking for a water fountain with more of a connection to nature the perfect outdoor water feature is the solar fountain.
Solar Water Features are one the most eco-friendly and cost efficient outdoor water fountains because instead of using electricity they are powered entirely by sun light through the use of a solar panel. The use of a solar panel to power these wonderful water features means they won’t add to your electric bill and therefore they will also contribute to lessening the amount of electricity you use. When placed in the sunlight the solar panels provide energy to the pump, which keep the water flowing so you can enjoy it’s tranquil sound. Since solar water fountains don’t utilize electricity like most other fountains, there won’t be any cords running through your garden. By not having distracting cords everywhere, solar fountains can contribute more to the overall beauty of the outdoor and become less of a hassle when finding the perfect place to put them. These hassle free fountains come in many sizes and styles, making them great accents to any garden or yard setting. So you can find the perfect style fountain for your outdoor get away and feel good about lessening your impact on the environment you enjoy.
Check out this beautiful new eco-home in the UK which shows off the latest energy saving and efficient technologies. This type of vaulted construction was used for the first time in Spain in 1382, and its known as the Catalan vault system. It boasts a low arch made of bricks, with different levels being used to maintain its strength without requiring additional support structures. It was designed by Richard Hawkes as one of the first zero carbon houses in the UK.
The house is harnessing solar energy to generate all its own electricity and thermal energy. The building demonstrates how contemporary design can celebrate local materials and crafts and integrate new technologies to produce a highly sustainable building that sits lightly on the Earth.
There is a trend lately, in the UK and North America, to make more new homes energy efficient – with more and more of them achieving the lofty title of zero carbon! Let’s hope this trend continues.
